MetFridays—An Evening with Artist Miguel Luciano

Free with Museum admission

Miguel Luciano, Civic Practice Partnership artist, The Met

Join Civic Practice Partnership artist-in-residence Miguel Luciano as he introduces his current project, Mapping Resistance: The Young Lords in El Barrio, a public art project exploring the history of the Young Lords in East Harlem. Luciano's project features the work of Hiram Maristany, the official photographer of the Young Lords, a Puerto Rican activist group that organized for social justice in their communities during the late 1960s and 1970s. Works by Maristany, who was also a founding member of the New York chapter, will be on view.

Presented as part of the Civic Practice Partnership, a collaborative program between communities, artists, and The Met in an effort to support healthy communities committed to social change.

This program is made possible by The William R. Kenan, Jr. Charitable Trust, as part of The Met's Kenan Project.
